If you have the tools rebuild it. The pump is easy to rebuild(just a seal kit), leave the lines alone if they are not leaking. If they are then find a good local shop to make custom ones, usually relatively inexpensive. Get a Remanufactured rack from a rebutible parts store or local rack/axle rebuilder. Its a lot cheaper then new and I would put money on it that Toyota discontinued the rack years ago.

Buy rebuilt, you CANNOT do this yourself and cannot afford stuff from the factory!

Ditto on getting a rack rebuilt or rebuilt from a reputable rebuilder.

Where do you live? Back in the day we used Napa Remained racks with no problems. Or just start googling in your area for shops. Its amazing how many shops are out there that do specialty work like this that we dont know about untill we search for them.

I've got one inbound from rockauto. Should have it in a few days. I'll have to pay shipping to get the core charge back, but should average out to around $120-$150 for the rebuilt unit. In your case, I'd ask around the island for a shop that does rebuilds. Shipping is a pita for you guys.

Yea, play the poor us card when you can paddle a kayak 2 miles offshore and catch Ahi.

I'll be working on mine today, I'll see if I can remember to take a couple photos. You have any luck calling around for a local shop that can rebuild yours?

Grats. Hope the rack is solid. If so that works out for everyone. He gets cash for the manual rack swap, you get a functional ps rack. ^_^

No photos, but I suppose I could walk out to the garage for a quick snapshot of the exploded front end of a coupe next to a pallet of parts that still need to be installed...

I just replaced my rack 2 days ago. Autozone carries racks for $200. The high pressure line is also available for $53 but changing it with the engine in the car looks nearly impossible. I reused the old one. The rack can be removed from the vehicle with the engine in, however you'll need to drop the subframe down a bit and push the tranny tailshaft up. The lines are the real pain. Do yourself a favor and just remove the upper exhaust manifold so you can get to the lines. You can do it without removing it but you only have a couple degrees swing on your wrench. I could have removed and reinstalled the manifold a dozen times in the time it took me to remove and reinstall those fittings.
