To start I am clueless about cams and need help selecting a good cam for low end power with a turbo set up. I am swapping a 4agze into my AE and swapping to turbo. Im not sure what all information is needed but I will list what I have and I guess we can go from. This is not a running car yet but over the next few months will be.

I am running a stock 4agze with 20V ITB's with 16V adapter, and 3" piping going in. Head studs, Turbonetics T60 with a TIAL waste and BOV, 3" Down Pipe, into either 2.5 or 3 have not decided yet. Not sure what a safe boost is? I'm taking an educated guess at 15lb. 460cc injectors, aftermarket rail and Mega squirt 2.

Again I have no clue when it comes to cams or if I should even touch them with a factory 4agze. I'm pretty much new to the AE game so... Really any information would help even if it does not pertain to what I am posting about.

How fast do you want to get there?
What kind of budget are you on?
If you are looking for less than 200 HP the stock cams would be fine. You will be able to make more than that on them. They will favor low end and quick spool but you will feel them restricting the upper RPM pretty seriously.
Cams will really open up the upper RPM and allow you to get the most power out of it.

This would be my first cam recommendation.

It would work very well with a turbo build and should sacrifice very little down low while gaining a good bit up top.

A little cheaper option would be the Tomei Poncam.

How much boost can one run is one of those questions that's kind of meaningless. This will be effected by things like your cams, your tuning ability, monitoring equipment and knock prevention.
There are many people who have run over 20 PSI reliably. I have seen a couple threads and dynos on youtube claiming over 500 WHP on stock GZE internals.

Thanks a bunch, I am looking for around 400-450 BHP. There is no real budget, so with that said I will most likely run kelford.

Is it necessary to run better springs? I did a search on here and there was a huge write up on the stock spring compression with higher cams. Also would it be wise to run adjustable cam gears?

The stock 4AG head is part of the problem, it isn't just cams. An unported head tends to limit flow volume to the stock camshaft specs... even less really. In the below flow test, the red arrows are the stock 4AGZE camshaft 7.1mm lift, while the blue arrows are the pre-4AGZE era camshaft 7.5mm lift. the red curve is a stock 4AG exhaust port flow, the blue curve is the stock 4AG intake flow. The exhaust port in particular runs flat well before either of the stock cams reach full lift....




So more cam will help some, but a head that better utilizes the cams is also advised.

16V camshaft specifications:
Stock cams (would be a "240" if it were classified by its duration) run flat @ or about 6600 rpm
Most "256" type camshafts run flat @ or about 7300 rpm
Most "264" type camshafts run flat @ or about 7900 rpm

Building a good engine requires planning, you can't just drop in cams and expect big changes... a proper build takes into account all of the engine... not just cams...

So I was doing some reading on guys running a different duration from the intake than the exhaust. Just trying to figure out what the advantages or disadvantages would be. IE running a turbo.

I read that there was a decent amount of increase in the 4AGZE running a 272/in and 264/ex, the particular thread was on HKS cams.
