Stupid Question: Battery Tie Down

Postby Trance86GTS » Thu Apr 10, 2014 1:03 am

Are the battery tie downs the same for both GT-S and SR-5? I question this because I grabbed one off an SR-5 a while back. Tried fitting it on my GT-S yesterday and to my suprise it don't fit. The hight doesn't match up. No big deal but I didn't want to waste a clean OEM part that was free.

Batteries are made in a couple of different heights. Factory batteries
were kind of tall and thin, and they often get replaced by a shorter but
wider battery, which means the lugs are not at the right spacing, and
the height will be wrong. You probably have to get a different size of
battery, or give up your dreams of using that tie down strap :(

I believe they are both the same, as the other person mentioned, it's possible your battery is a different group size and sits taller than the factory bracket is designed to reach. Get a new battery or a universal tie down kit from an auto parts store.

I feel like a tard! I never thought about the battery height itself lol. Thanks guys. And yes, nothing but OEM will do ;)
