Need info on 1984 Corolla

Hi guys,

I'm not a toyota guy. My grandmother has a 1984 Corolla in Puerto Rico. It has an original 70,500 miles on it and is mechanically sound with light surface rust. My grandmother just had a stroke so I have to unload the car. I'm trying to get a rough estimate of what this car goes for. I'm a car guy but I live in Indiana so I don't even have pics of this thing. My mom just called me asking to find out about this damn thing so she can sell it. What's crazy is that the only info I can find online seems to be about the AE86, which I don't think this is. This is the very entry model. According to my mom, the VIN is jt2ae86c2e0049979. I can't find these for sale anywhere to even get a rough idea of what they're going for.

So, I know this is a shitty post but I'm just hoping for some info. Mods, if this is better placed elsewhere then ship me along. Thanks so much for any help. And, if you're interested, I'll try to get mom to snap shots. For now I'm just looking for information.

Joe

Its an ae86 but its definitely an sr5 not the sought after gts, depending if its a hatchback or coupe and if its manual or automatic, the latter or both being the least desireable...but if its a hatchback which all were stick I say 1k for a quick sale and 2-3k if you wanna wait it out and try to sell it to the highest bidder...if its a coupe and automatic you will be lucky to get anything past 1k...puerto rico has alot of car fanatics, but they don't pay the ridiculous prices we pay out here, they are smart lol p.s. if It was a starlet, peanut, mango, or any early rotary you would have no issue selling, those models are sought after in P.R. :)

Thanks for the reply. It's a hatchback with an automatic. Piece of crap three speed tranny. I drove it for a week in 2008 when I visited. It's clean and well-maintained. You're saying that they didn't make auto/hatch combinations?

Clean ae86's are getting harder to find nowadays. Personally, I'd suggest buying it from your grandma and doing a 20v engine swap, in total the whole car and engine swap should cost $6-7,000 USD, and you'd have a cool retro drift ride :D
