How to remove rear tow hooks and where to buy tow hooks.

Title explains it all. I herd that when you get into an accident and the rear tow hooks gets push up it can seriously damage the chasis and end life in your 86? Correct me if Im wrong and where can i buy tow hooks for these cars?

I don't know where you read that. The USDM rear tow hooks are just loops welded to the bumper brackets. I had to cut one off to fit my exhaust, I used a cut off wheel on a Dremel.

a friend of mine had told me that if they were ever pushed forward of the vehicle the corollas done.

He probably said something like that because it'd be difficult to get an insurance company to pay out a "fair" amount for our cars, so if something happened, they'd likely total it out.
But think about this. If you put on a different tow hook, one that sticks out farther from the body then the stock ones, and have it mounted properly and securely, if something hit it hard enough, it could cause just as much frame damage (or more) then the stock tow hooks.

Plus if it sticks out, you'll walk into it all the time and bang your knee.
