Hey Club4ag, i'm a bit new to the 86 game. I have been looking at wheels for awhile now, I've came down to 2 sets of wheels. The Rota RKR's and the infamous Volk te37. My question is Volk te37's in 15x8 are only made in +15 offset. I have been told that the 86 wont clear wheels over +10 offset without spacers and such. Anyone who could give me input on this would be greatly appreciated. My other question is what the stock weight of the GTS wheel is? The RKR's weigh 16.2lbs each, while the Volks weight 11.5lbs. I'm not trying to be a weight freak i'm just interested on my best wheel options.

What about Volk TE37Vs? Seems like they have 15x8 with 0 offset.

it puzzles me that of your top 2 wheel choices, one of them is a $500 knockoff piece of crap and the other is a $2,000 high end forged racing wheel. If you like the rota RKR, but have the budget for TE37, why not buy real watanabe? they come in a better size for your needs anyway.

+15 offset means nothing, it's more about backspacing than anything else. I ran 15x6 +20 on mine and had no issues besides polishing the frame. You'll bump into the struts around 4.5" or so of backspacing, depending on whether or not you're running coilovers (CO has smaller diameter springs and perches, gives you more space), and you'll hit the frame around the same as well unless you're running longer LCAs or NCRCAs, which will push the wheel outboard more.

Personally, I'd go RKR and put the money into decent tires. TE37s are nice, but they do have a tendency to crack on street use. RKR are inexpensive, and should you destroy one, you won't be out an arm and a leg, not to mention time if they have to be shipped from overseas. There are other options as well, depending if you want to stay 4 lug or step up and go 5 lug.

15x8 at +15 is fine. you can use long studs and have more room to play with spacers. the problem with having 15x8 at zero is it's pretty far pushed out to start, and short of cutting and hammering fenders or raising the car, it's hard to fit properly.

not that most of us have issues cutting and hammering when needed on a molested racecar base AE86 with aftermarket fenders. LOL

The wheel weights don't matter much unless you're really chasing clocks. (and actually have the skills to be chasing clocks with consistent lap times)

Bone Stock AE86 weighs about 2350 lbs in USA trim. It can vary by year, equipment choice and body type.

So with all this said, what is the best offset to run for a 15x8? I'm looking to do the least amount of work possible.

thats totally up to you, and how you want your car to look. Also has a lot to do with your suspension setup and what wheels you want to buy. Some wheels will only give you 1 or 2 options for different offsets, while others might give you 10 or 15..
