Hey everyone. I have a 85 GTS. My friend and I just pulled out my clutch. However while my buddy was putting the clutch back in for me, he broke the first bolt he was torquing. When he was torquing it he forgot to change it from the 52ft lbs to the 14ft lbs. He even said he was thinking it felt like too much torque for such little bolts... anyway as mad as I was, I still have to get to work tomorrow night and this is basically my only mode of transportation. Don't have time to easy out it right now.

The question I have is... how bad would it be if I just put it all together and drove it with the single broke bolt? I figured its a bad idea since they torque at like 14, and could probably undo themselves with the uneven seated torque, but would it at least last me 4 days hahaha. I wish i could just take out the flywheel again and get it fixed but time isn't something i have this week. Thanks and sorry about the dumb question.

Your talking bout a pressure plate bolt? If it is, deflection of the pressure plate could occur,directly effecting the clamping force of the disc.. Yeah replace that bolt soon. I would!

if you drive like that you just gonna make things worse

Yeah, the pressure plate bolts. Welp, guess I might skip out on work for this car... Might just take the flywheel to a machine shop so I dont fk it up anymore than it already is. True love aye...

if the head of the bolt broke off just take the clutch off
the part that broke should just spin out by hand or vise grips
get another bolt and slap that bad boy together
thats like a 10 minute operation

/\ that!! I've been there, and done that! Surprisingly enough the bolt doesn't really get "stuck" in there like they normally do. Plus you can get to both sides with the flywheel off! Do what the previous post has stated, and you should be good to go. Seriously took me about 10 minutes to use a pick and spin the broken bolt back out. When mine broke it has a little ridge to spin it out with a pick.

I have had this happen to me before as well. It was another person's fault too hah. We ended up getting it out with a "ez out kit". You can get them at any general auto parts store. You just have to have an electric drill to do it. This got the bolt out pretty easy as well.

I like to start with a dremel, then drill, then a ez out if neccesary
if the head of a stock bolt it protruding
then welding a nut is the best option
I use this method all the time
