AE86 RWD Carrier Bearing (Driveshaft) Replacement Question

Postby genki86x » Fri May 08, 2015 6:18 pm

Hey all,

I have taken my old carrier bearing off of my driveshaft and replaced it with the new. My only questions are:

1. Do I need to put grease anywhere?
2. The nut that holds it on had a notch to punch in. I punched this out before I un-tightened. Can I reuse this nut, or should I try to get a new one? Do I just punch the notch back in?

I would personally buy a new one. But it wouldn't hurt to throw the used one in until you make sure all is good.

If it is a sealed bearing (and I would be surprised if it was not) then it
will have all the grease it needs already applied by the manufacturer.
Torque the nut up and then punch the edge back into the groove to lock
it in place. It looks to be in good condition, so no need to replace it this
time round.
