I misplaced my starter bolts when I removed my T50 to take it apart and make one good T50 out of three transmissions. I did a quick Google search and also a search on the forum.

Does anyone know the specifications on the starter bolts? Length, thread pitch and diameter. Thanks to anyone that can help me out. I have driven a couple years without fifth gear and recently I was only able to get the car in reverse when it is pointing uphill.

Now it has a Cusco transmission mount. Later I will install the Cusco engine mounts.

I used my caliper to determine the length and the diameter. Then I took the starter into Ace Hardware and bought two flange bolts.

M10
50mm
1.25 pitch

Haven't got a spare AE86 starter lying around, but I checked an AE92
starter, and that has M10 x 1.25 thread. Might not be so easy to find
in a hardware store, and I don't know the length. So maybe a junkyard
with old Toyotas might be a better place to look.

Yes. Ace tends to have the right bolts for out Toyota's.

A few years ago I bought bolts that felt like they would go in with no problems. But they went in a few threads and became really tight. Now I know to check that they go in at least ten of the threads. Ace also had the right bolts and washers for the rear transmission support. They were the same pitch and diameter. Different lengths of course.

The length from the under side of the hex head is 45mm. Dave

Thanks Dave. Ace only had them in increments of 10mm. I would not bother going to Home Depot or lowes to try and find bolts for our cars. They never have the best or closest selection. A few years ago I was sure I found a website that had a list of the fasteners that were common to our cars.

you'd also be suprised what your local NAPA or other auto parts store has. In my town, NAPA has bar none the most extensive inventory of bolts. metric/sae, hex head, allen head, stainless, etc.....

Went to a Fastenal, whose business is exclusively fasteners...they could get me the bolts I was looking for (metric allen head bolts for the NRCA) in three days. I checked napa on the way home, they had'em in stock.
