Can find them everywhere. The correct search term would be "back up lamp switch"

Re: Reverse lights sensor located on trans.
Does this sensor malfunction/break much? I changed my rear light housing and wire harness for the rear lights and all the lights were working fine but then a few weeks later the reverse lights stopped working. The bulbs are good and I couldn't find any damaged wires or connections that got disconnected.
Is there a way to bypass/jump the reverse light sensor so that I can test the wires with a multi-meter without having the car on and in reverse? How do people go about checking this?
Thanks, Kedar

Re: Reverse lights sensor located on trans.
All you need to do is connect the multi-meter across the to pins on the switch [with the meter on ohm setting and zero'd] and then put the trans in reverse to verify a completed circuit. You could also used a battery powered test lamp. Dave W
