Catalytic converter- to remove or not to remove??.....that is the question.

Doing my sr5 to gts conversion and working on the exhaust now. What benefits/ downfalls can i expect if i just cut it out and replace it with a straight pipe? Ex. Rough idle, loud car syndrome, poor or better gas mileage, more hp?? I have removed my egr system also.

Also if i were to keep it there is a small tube coming out the side of the catalytic converter and it has been cut off. Where would this need to go to?

Thanks for your response.

Post pic of said tube on the cat.

What headers and cat back are you using?

The exhaust will be a little louder overall without the cc. Imo top end sounds better without it (more rippage); however, low/mid range power, and throttle response is better with a cc.

I am using OEM manifold and catalytic converter. Here is a picture of that tube. I was telling you about. Leaning more towards of leaving it on there for now.

Interesting, I have no idea what that is. Mine as well leave it if you can seal the other end.
