FREON RECHARGE LOCATION?

Postby idreamofdrifting » Thu Sep 12, 2019 9:46 am

Hey fellas, I tried searching on Google, and here but I can't seem to find the answer. ( I may just be looking in the wrong places  )
Can anyone chime in?
Where is the A/C freon/refrigerant recharge location?
Also while researching I came across this from a firestone auto care site:

WHAT IS R-12 FREON AND R-134A FREON?
There are different types of A/C Freon. Originally, R-12 Freon was used in car air conditioners. However, it was found that when a car emits R-12 Freon, it depletes the ozone layer. The Environmental Protection Agency outlawed ozone depleting substances in 1994 and, as a result, R-134a Freon is now used instead.
If you own a car that was manufactured before 1994, you can have your A/C retrofitted for R-134a Freon..."
wut da WHAT?!

Thoughts anyone? I appreciate it.

You need to get it converted to r-134a, I don't know the exact process but any a/c shop can do it. Found a video that might be worth a watch for general info

you fill it at the low pressure ac line there should be a shrouder type valve located in front of the radiator in front of the car....to convert to r134 it is a process.....you need to use the proper oil PAG oil and change all the line o rings to the green o rings...forgot the name of them but they will not break down and erode like the black rubber o rings will.....then you need to vacuum the system and make sure the system can hold a vacuum then recharge with proper oil and r134.

yeah man...that's pretty much the jist of it. You can buy the r134 low and high pressure side valve conversion kit and the (neoprene)green o ring sets at autozone or oreillys. Also,The vacuum pump and manifold you can rent from there too. I did make a few vids on this when I did my 86. They're kinda long here are the links part 1,2, and 3. make sure to watch the 3rd one as i did have to recharge the system.
