Are factory gold wheels a thing?

Postby mk1spyder » Thu Apr 02, 2020 3:44 pm

I have a red 1985 GTS hatch and the wheels are like a gold tint, did the silver just fade or were these gold new? Also what is the difference between the center caps that don't show the lug nuts and the ones that do that are more raised and pointy with silver in the middle?

My brother's 85 gts coupe came with gold wheels. The previous owner was telling me that they were a special thing from toyota. That is all I know about it tho.

Yes, there were both silver and gold 4 spoke wheels. I had a red 85 coupe that came with gold wheels.

They only came on the red 85 coupe that had a luggage rack with or without a sunroof and cruise control.I bought one in Puerto Rico after my old zenki was totaled but then i sold it a year later.Luckily it went to an awesome home and the owner totally restored it.I will post pics soon but have to advise on viewer discretion for those with high blood pressure!

To answer your question as far as are factory gold wheels a thing,You will rarely see them so to me its a matter of taste.Either follow the crowd or be unique as these wheels were in this color...I know im painting them gold on the next zenki coupe i buy.
