Fortune Auto True Rear problem

Folks,

I have the fortune auto true rear setup and I am hearing clucking noises from the back and it appears that the upper mount seems to be rubbing against the body. I haven't had a chance to see the setup as the car is at the shop. Shop owner is a little stumped as he has worked on these cars a lot and is very capable and knowledgeable (been racing for 20+ years).

Attached are some pics for reference. The steel collar with the rubber base (brown) can't be installed as the mounting hole for the shock piston rod is not big enough. Do the holes need to be drilled out to fit correctly?

would appreciate if anyone with experience on installing these could chime in.

Thanks,
Basil

Not my subject, but looking at this pic...

... if I was installing them I would just put the OEM style washers and bushings on top
(above and below the chassis sheetmetal) as if I was installing regular replacement shocks.

I'm guessing it should look a bit like this...

... except these are urethane bushings. You might have the OEM rubber bushings.
Either way they are designed to insulate the shock from the chassis to reduce noise
and vibration.
