AE86 Transmission Issue

Postby Swooki » Wed Dec 16, 2020 5:38 pm

Hello,
I was wondering if you guys can help me diagnose this and tell me if i need a rebuild or not?

So car has been leaking transmission fluid lately and I noticed it's been harder and harder to get into gear when car is "running"
Now I added more tranny fluid through the shifter gear box inside the car and now the car does not want to go into gear at all? 1/10 times if i force it, it'll go in,

Reverse gear always grinds..

What could be the issue? IS the transmission toast?

Clutch is not fully disengaging. Check the fluid level and check the clutch pedal adjustment.
Tranny should be OK... what you have is normal when the clutch is dragging. If the clutch
starts to bite when the pedal is barely off the floor, you need to adjust the pedal higher so
that the clutch doesn't start to engage until the pedal is around halfway out.

Check the AE86 body manual for how to adjust the pedal.

I fixed the clutch! turns out the slave is bad. I should be okay.
