it was idling too high at first, and then it would idle low when it was cold and then began to idle normally once warm after driving it. but now it is idling higher again and then just straight stalling

That is probably your waxstat located under the TB. First remove the two small water hoses and blow-out lines and block fittings or replace the water lines. If that does not fit it, then you will have to adjust the waxstat. Seach for waxstat adjusting tool and how to dis-assemble the unit. You will have to make an adjusting tool to alter the RPM at cold idle. Before you try to adjust, soak the waxstat in solvent to make it easier to adjust. It does not take a lot to alert the RPM. A .025" adjustment change about 700 RPM on my waxstat. Also when making the adjusting tool, the pins MUST be short or they will bend.

Be a good idea to take the waxstat off the TB and boil it to see if it opens first. Then see if water
flows thru the valve to heat the wax pellet, as the water side can get blocked up with crud.
