Obx catback twin tip exhaust??

Postby foxyeee » Sun Mar 31, 2013 7:03 pm

Considering some different exhausts for my coupe and came across this obx twin tip. Looks like a knock off greddy dd for cheap. Was just wondering if anyone has any more knowledge on this.

Here's a link to what in talking about

.. I'm also thinking about getting one myself, seeing that of course the trust dd has been long discontinued. I have always been a fan of twin tips over canister. As far as I know this system is stainless steel so it won't rust up like the trust dd. or you can always just get an Isis universal twin tip from enjuku. But this video I believe is the only one surfaced so far. Hope it helps!!

its a copy of the Greddy/TRUST DD exhaust. it is one of the loudest exhausts available for the AE86. After that you're up against the buddy club spec 2? which is super loud.

If it's half as loud as a Buddy Club Spec II it's pretty ____ing loud.

That said. I have one in a pretty cardboard box that needs a new home somewhere on the east coast.

i just got this exhaust a couple months ago and dayamn it's loud! I just put silencers in mine a couple weeks ago and it quieted it down considerably to where it's bearable now, but still kinda screams above 4k rpm. gonna try some 3.5" baffles inserts off a harley and wrap em with fiberglass muffler packing next. got the idea from this video with the Reinhard Exhuast:

Are you running a test pipe? Also, what type of exhaust manifold do you have?

.....stock manifold, 50 state legal magnaflow cat, and this exhaust is still loud as hell by itself.

also might wanna take off the left tow tab. already dented the left tip on top when bottoming it out backing out of my driveway last weekend.

Im running this exhaust, it is loud. I wouldnt have it any other way. Fits well enough, had to get a little creative with the exhaust hangars, had to search for rubber hangars that worked nice. Sits low but not too low, what else can you expect from an under diff system. Im running the OBX header, a test pipe, then this system. My only complaint is that it isnt the lightest thing out there.

Not a bad system for the money. No leaks, no cracks, gaskets are quality, doesnt come loose, etc... This will be the third summer of use on it, I dont drive the car through the winter (road salt) So as you could imagine im itching to get it out there!

Going to revive this thread LOL but im thinking of getting this exhaust. i have a OBX tri y header, stock cat (maybe high flow if i get money soon) and i was thinking of getting the twin tip. Would the stock cat and maybe a baffle be enough to get rid of a good amount of straight pipe drone? make it bearable for driving on freeway for around 40min?

just want inputs from people who have or heard this exhaust,
Thanks!

That's my old sound clip video. If you read John's original thread, I personally thought the exhaust was too loud. My friend who does exhaust told me my best bet to quiet it down was to install a CAT, but I ended up selling it and going with a different setup.
