20v clutch is there a substitute

Postby jaimevelez » Mon Apr 01, 2013 8:17 pm

I have done a 20v swap in my car and for some reason I was on the highway last night and my clutch went to pieces I heard that I can use a red top clutch because it's the same specs is this true?

You can use any 4age clutch as long as the clutch and flywheel diameters are the same.

I have a used 16v 200mm clutch and flywheel for sale, and I'm local. The the clutch is still good. I pulled them both off my car when it was wrecked. If you're interested I can let them both go for $25.

but what is the difference will it break or will they hold up well with the 20vis it just a temporary substitute or is it something I can actually use for the 20v and keep it there for a while?

check the specs of the clutch, they usually have a rating in terms of how much horsepower it can hold. If it's within the needs of your engine, then you should be ok.

Also, abuse can cut down the life of any clutch, so if you do lots of clutch kicks, then one can reasonably assume that it will break into pieces one day.

I used a 200mm Illegal Garage clutch on a 4agze for a while. Held up just fine, but it was for daily driving and the occasional spirited run, but not for drifting, so I can't say anything to that.

max might be able to build you a 212mm clutch for your T-50 if you want to keep the flywheel.
