Motor/Trans Mounts - Which do you prefer and why?

Hey guys,
I'm soon to purchase a new set of motor/trans. mounts for my AE86 as they look to have never been replaced and replacing a few other bushings/parts to get ready for this season.

The car will be used for a daily, along with some occasional weekend drifting from time to time. I do not mind some vibration, but I plan on keeping the front half of the interior in the vehicle.

- I have heard that the Cusco's lower the engine by ~10-20mm or so, not too sure on what the exact number or if something has been updated with them, or if theyre is way to fix this for use of a daily driven car or what it can harm to the rest of the vehicle.

- Megan's were possibly my second option, not too sure what they are made of. Whether it is a poly or reinforced rubber or a mix of the two.

- The Techno Pro Spirit mounts are still available, they also lower the engine by 10mm

- The last option I saw were from the following website: http://www.mmr-direct.com/ "Feature an Aluminum core incased in UHMW. Fully threaded rod extends all the way through the mount so that mount breakage is eliminated. Mounts produce more vibration than stock, but not as much as solid metal mounts"
These are motor mounts only, and are listed at $60

So all in all, the Cusco's, Megan's, and Techno Pro Spirit's all cost roughly around $180-200 U.S.D., with the UHMW ones are only $60 w/o trans mounts. My thought right now is the Cusco's but I am just wondering what other people prefer or what they're running.

Thanks,
Justin

I like my cusco mounts, but that's all I've tried aside from beat stock mounts. If you decide to go this route make sure you use the cusco engine and trans. mounts together; it's necessary since they lower the engine 10mm.

Yea that's kinda what I was thinking, do you know if there is anything harmful to it being lowered? I mean besides the possibility of scraping the pan if someone's vehicle is that low but I take it the main idea is a lower center of gravity?
Thanks for the reply

Ground and x member clearance isn't an issue. The pinion angle may change very slighty (not sure on this), if this is the case you should be fine if you still have the stock drive shaft. I haven't had any issues.

No love for TRD mounts? I've had Cusco and TRD. Only problem with Cusco mounts are that some engine parts you buy run into fitment issues. The engine they mocked them up on had OEM/TRD mounts, a lot of times the clearances for headers and such are tighter or rub with the lower Cusco mounts.

My bad, totally forgot about them lol. I guess I didn't look into them that much as it seems TRD parts for these cars are really hard to come by or long discontinued. Idk, I guess I never really looked into them. Are they also a hardened/reinforced rubber material?

Thanks for the heads up on the clearance issue though, I keep that in mind.

Stiffer than stock rubbers. You can also drop the engine a few mm just by not reinstalling the metal cover things back on the motor mounts.

I probably would have gone with TRD engine mounts if they still had a matching trans. mount. Having matching durometer bushings for the engine/trans. was a factor for me. I'm a stickler though...
