driveshaft u-joint

guys, any of you done a u joint driveshaft replace on the sr5 coupe. read from some forumsthat the ae86 driveshaft is non servicable.any ideas and suggestions? thanks in advance

they are not servicable. you will have to replace the drive shaft

Take it to any driveshaft shop & Look on youtube for u-joint fixes.
The staked joints that don't have a circlip groove in the yoke, use a joint with cups that have a groove.

They ARE replaceable.. I have taken my GTS driveshaft to a driveshaft shop and they replaced the ujoints with new ones that have a fitting so you can greese them up. So yeah, just take em to a shop and have them tell you whether or not they can do them.

alright! the thought of replacing the whole driveshaft is not a option right now! coz i hear a thump noise everytime i shift gears specially on 2nd to third gear. i read on some forums that the u joints might be at fault. atleast now i have an idea that i can be replaced. thanks,guys!

You can inspect the ujoints when the driveshaft is off the car. You should grab the ujoint and try to move it in all directions. It should be tight with no slop and it should move slowly. If it has slop, it will be really loose and move fast. You can hear it smacking etc when you move it. Here is a vid on how to check the ujoints:

Jeonsah=by any chance,do you happen to know the part# for this replacement u joint? The info will be great for me as well as for many others who could encounter this DS prob in the unforeseen future.. :D
