How much power does an AE86 need to feel "quick"

I know for certain the ae86 is not the fastest car in the world, many are pushed away by how slow it feels. But I wanted to know, is there a specific HP target one reaches where the ae86 begins to feel like it has some oomph to it?

Thanks! But I just wanted a simple "160hp or so" answer. Just so I can know where to set my goals

Drive a slower car first, then it'll feel faster. I drive a 97 Camry 4-cylinder automatic. That ish is not quick.

LOL!!
It really depends on your definition of quick.
Fun can be had with a stock 80 hp 4age, as long as it revs clean to 7500. It will feel fast too(until you try and race someone)
I had a ton of fun with a stock bluetop, with the usual bolt ons(intake, header, exhaust). If your 4age runs well, spend some money on suspension. Get to learn the car first, and upgrade the engine as your skills increase.

Are these Double-D's on a(n) Blonde? Brunette? Ginger? It all depends what you do with said Boobs.
and, excuse me sir for explaining the obvious fact that if had have read that thread before opening your mouth (figuratively). If you wanted a specific answer like "160" you should go buy a Honda or a lawn mower. If you want to know what driving an ae86 truly is then you would have read the thread. Or used Google.

When people ride with me on track, no one ever climbs out and tells me how bored they were or how slow the car was. I have a rebuilt bluetop with AE92 higher compression pistons and 4.3 rear gears. Quick is more about driver than car, imo.

OP: How is fast defined by you?
I drive an M5 as a daily driver. It is leaps and bounds faster than the ae86. But when you drive the ae86, there is a different sense of speed, handling, and enjoyment that is pretty much hard to get out of other vehicles. It is very hard to describe in words, and cant be had until you experience it really. While my ae86 isnt the fastest around (175hp/147hp crank/wheels), there is something special about opening up the throttles and hearing the air rush in, revs fly up, and speed increase in such a small lightweight car.
When a lot of people ask how fast the car is etc... I always reply with "Its not the fastest car, but it is the most fun to drive"
I also had a 1JZ Twin Turbo Supra that had lots of power, and was fast, but was not as fun to drive. So power is not everything, its about balance and enjoyability. And to me at least, the ae86 has it. And there are plenty of supporting mods to squeeze more power out of the engine if so desired.

i would look into a 4.7 rear end gear or run smaller tires. i run a 185/55/14 and i did the math and it is comparable to a 4.5. you will get more responce out of it and it will feel "quick". but by no means will your car feel "fast" if you get what im saying it is just a corolla

For me, a stock rolla is pretty bland as far as acceleration goes (Mind you this is -not- why I love my car, but if were speaking PURELY on power..). I wouldnt call it "slow" exactly- Thats a word I use to describe sr5s. But a stockish 16v rolla in freshish condition? Pretty "enh" for me personally. They start to feel "quick" to me at around 130-140+whp. Thats a good 30-40% increase over mooost stockish rollas- and its pretty noticable. While not "fast" it certainly makes the car feel pretty zippy. Thats enough power in the car to keep up with the likes of wrxs, and make stis simply "jog" away from you instead of running full sprint past you to put things into some "perspective".
Fwiw, this is the kind of power you can readily hit wit ha stock 20v (st or bt). I did a bt swap on min some 6-7 years ago and was very pleased with the results for the costs (Spent about 1500 bucks start to finish).

It needs a 4.7 final and some Tomei cams. Done.
I've had 16v corollas and F22C corollas. I drive fastest with a 20v on cams and a 4.7 final. So like 160hp ish. Anything after just get another car. I've been seeing the dumbest sh!t lately on club's FB page. Unique doesn't always mean it's better. Stop trying to re-invent the wheel.

For a $10-11,000 25-30 year old car? I wouldn't call a base Corolla "quick" but a GT-S can easily get you arrested if you make liberal use of the outer pedals and keep the back seat and trunk empty.
Quick?
How long is a piece of string?
I mean, really, anything ten or twenty years newer at three or five times the price damn well OUGHT to blow the car away but if you drop two gears and nail it...you can still embarass a lot of them, till they top your speed.

Proper rephrase of OP "How much driver skill does an AE86 need to feel "quick" "
I got a good friend who's old man has a nice 58' vette, with a vic edelbrock stroker in it, 425hp conservatively. Runs 11's at the strip, and certainly feels "quick" lol. Sometimes we take it out to lay some rubber and get our jollies. Anyways, I take him for a ride in the corolla and it takes the color out of his skin. 84 cpe SR5 with ST20v and GTS rear, gutted interior on 195/60R14 Azenis RT615Ks. Ask my buddy if the rolla feels quick.
Its not a neck snapper like the vette obviously, but it has its characteristics and it capabilities. Its capabilities rely more heavily on the driver to extract them. That is the reason people love these cars, they beg more out of you. If you listen closely you could hear it whispering "give me more, is that all you got???"
