OK i changed the topic of my old Buddy Club Spec II post.

I have an underaxle SpecII, and I love the sound and such, but its really low.. and my car is on BC Coils, but theyre just installed, and i havent notched them down.. I want to lower the car another 1.5-2" and if i do that, It looks like I'll be destroying my exhaust..

So I'm just wondering, how are all of you LOW guys doing it? Do you all have over axle exhausts? If you have underaxles, how close is the exhaust to the ground? Do you have any pictures you could share?

Like all JDM exhausts. You need to either cut off the tow hook or bend it up. mine is bent up just enuff to clear my RS*R

Oh and a tip: cut the hook off before you try to mount the exhaust. I already had mine on and bolted down. It was super hard to cut it off with the exhaust on lol.

I have an axle over HKS Hi-Power. At one time, I considered an under axle setup, but I did not want to deal with ground clearance issues etc.

was not an issue. That's on 14"s too.

I went from under-axle to over-axle. My tires are flush with the fender and the under-axle was the lowest point. It would scrape backing out of driveways and at other transitions.

The advantages of running the exhaust on lower side of the differential is clear for an AE86 that's been dropped significantly because you run out of space over the axle, between the body floor.
However, do make careful measurements and limit the amount of suspension travel at 0 G's (tire off the ground) so that the suspension spring won't push the muffler pipe downwards with such force to cause issues.

The effects of doing it is you will get improvements in flow as you get rid of more kinks and twists in the tailpipe section, and you can have more suspension travel in the compression direction per design.
Most muffler shops will be able to custom make a tail-pipe under the axle, but to be very careful to run it close as possible to the axle with enough travel in the design, so that your clearance for suspension as well as ground height is at optimum position.
