Measure your T50 shifter ball!

Postby b-rock » Thu Jan 30, 2014 7:55 pm

If you have a T50 shifter plus calipers, would you measure the ball for me?

I'm making a batch of bronze shifter bushings and I want to make sure the shifters are all the same.

Mine is .5495" or 13.96mm.

Thanks!

I've got one here... done about 100,000 miles and has a bit
of wear. Measures 13.93 in the sideways direction and 13.86
in the front and back direction. I'm guessing poking it into
gear puts more load on the ball than just moving sideways
in the gate.

Cheers... jondee86

Hmmm.... You must have burned through the OE plastic bushing.... This one has zero out-of-round. Thanks for checking.

one of the best mods ever, brass/bronze shifter bushing. Had the Cusco one back in the day. loved it.

If you end up making these I'd be interested in offering them on my website.

I'll try to remember to check mine tomorrow.

And yet more aftermarket parts I find on this car.

Shift lever looks pretty similar to this guy.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-Short-Throw ... 3b&vxp=mtr

min 13.85
max 14
the better part of it averaged between 13.9 and 13.95
There was just one tiny flat spot where it measured the 13.85.

I'll eventually have mine up in the air once the weather settles down again. I'll check when I swap fluid. Should be interesting to see how much variation there is.

Thanks a lot guys. These are all in line with what I found on a few shifters.... So, I made a batch.

I will offer them for sale in the next day or two.... I need to confirm the shipping to the USA. I'm hoping for $24 including shipping... but that's with no tracking... I'll start a For Sale thread soon.
