4AG oil pan gasket change

Postby daveskatesallday » Tue Feb 04, 2014 1:53 pm

Has anyone done the gasket with the motor in the car? I don't have a hoist available and need to do the oil pan, I put a bit too much silicone on to seal it and it leaks in certain parts around the pan. I went and got a felpro oil pan gasket. I know I'll have to losen the motor mounts and get the car up on stands, someone said you can jack it up from the bellhousing area or crank pulley but I just want to get feedback from anyone who has done it with it in the car to see what the easiest way is to get the pan out to do it smoothly. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

yep.. I jacked it up from the tranny bellhousing and was able to undo all the bolts and get a nice bead of silicone in there. Oil pan actually does not use a gasket other than FIPG(form in place gasket, aka rtv) I actually changed the oil pump with engine in car.
I do not remember if I had to undo the engine mounts tho.

cool thanks for the help and actually they do have a gasket comes with two one for the oil pickup and one for the pan, I'd take a pic but only have my cell phone so shitty pictures but the bolt holes line up, i'll try to knock it out this weekend. It doesn't leak too horribly but a leak is a leak i'd rather have no leaks.
