Appraise My Wheels Please? Enkei 92 15x10 -14 & -24

Postby Bearhair » Tue Feb 24, 2015 9:26 pm

Hey everyone, new to the forums here. Coming from a turbo S2k to a Corolla after my long love for the Rollas finally prevailing.

Just got some wheels made for my set up, just so it's clear the car has 40mm CBY flares but i'd like to know what the value of the wheels hold in the community. Any comment is welcomed, hateres gon' hate & lovers gon' love :D

Specs: Enkei 92 15x10 -14 15x10 -24, powdercoated brilliant silver faces, inner & outer barrels polished

I think you will find a wide range of appraisals, and it will greatly depend on the appraiser's age. Why? Well, most of the older cats remember Enkei 92's as junkyard wheels. They were not sought after. However, a year or two ago, they became very popular when mesh wheels became the hype with the Honda crowd.

Despite them being Enkei 92's, it costs a lot of money to rebarrell and refinish wheels. I think they are worth AT LEAST $1500. Someone looking for wheels in this size will probably spend so much more, whether new or used. Another route they can go with are Diamond racing wheels; I presume they are much heavier than Enkei 92's, however.

I like your reasoning. +1

I agree with everyone above in regards to the value of the wheels. Fiveteen makes an amazing point about the age of the person you ask, and this also applies to whether you are seeking the value of them just to know, or if you are looking to value them to sell. Selling items is greatly dependent on what someone is willing to buy them for. So if there is not much demand, then they obviously wont sell for their "listed" value. Sell them for cheaper, and they should move quick.

this.

all depends on the buyer though. To me, those wheels are worth nothing because they've been rebarreled. In my eyes, the second you crack open a set of nice vintage wheels to put some modern style barrels on them, they are ruined.

LOL .... That's super funny!!! The enkei mesh is a "Classic" Old School wheel, this wheel was ran BITD before the jdm "Hype" Just because someone has 92's DON'T mean they can't afford ssr mesh, I want a pair of 16" Enkei mesh right now and can afford ANY wheel on the market. And as far as rebarrelling the wheels go that's Longrains opinion!!! If you have some vintage wheels and the lips are all jacked up and you want to get them rebarrelled, what's wrong with modern lips and sizing to your preference?? Nothing at all .... Some of the best, rarest JDM wheels have been rebarrelled and sold on this website and I have yet to see a complaint about a single set in years!!!
