Late Model 4agze COP coil things

Postby neko-romancer » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:32 pm

So i pulled the 4agze that was in my 86 to make wiring corrections easier, (because i have pretty big hands and am too tall) and i also plan to clean and paint the bay etc. Anyway while i was hauling the engine to my garage, it leaned on the dolly and broke the old plastic connector going into the one of the coil-packs. Brittle plastic be-damned! My 4agze has the two coil packs mounted on the valve cover, and i have looked all over the internet trying to find a new coil-pack to no avail. Heres what they look like http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?cmd=print&id=66131

Does anyone know where you can buy these?

Just saw that you can use 7mgte coil packs, but can you get them new from anywhere?

If Toyota don't have them, you will have to try and hunt down some
used ones... junk yards or JDM engine importers... or try some of
the outfits that specialize in bringing in JDM parts to order. Not so
hard to find down here in NZ....

... but shipping would be a killer.

Alright, i guess i'll have to buy some junkyard coils, cause the dealership claims that all 4agze parts are discontinued.
Thanks for the help jondee

The gze wasted spark coils are the same as 7mgte coils. You should still be able to order them new from Toyota. If you need the wiring harness connector, its part number 90980-11246. You can order those from Toyota as well, they're pretty cheap too. Just make sure you dont flip the wires when switching connectors or it won't fire correctly.

It actually depends if they're the double-lock or single-lock connectors. I believe AE92's used single-lock (90980-10609) and AE101's used double-lock (90980-11246).
