Hey,
So i am planning to replace my exhaust system (from exhaust up to cat) on my sr5 ae86 4ac powered engine.
I am in need of suggestions on an aftermarket catalytic converter that will pass California smog & emissions testing.
Also what is an affordable(i am a high school student) and decent exhaust system for the 4AC. Nothing fancy, i was thinking something like the HKS sport ??
Let me know your suggestions!
much appreciated!
i am still learning !!

HKS and affordable aren't normally used in the same sentence... cali spec converters are pretty pricy, along with HKS exhausts. so unless you have $600 to blow for no real performance gains...
seriously though, sr5, 4ac.. better off staying stock and saving up to get a gts conversion.

as a fellow CA resident wiht an sr5, my suggestion is just to get the oem replacement from autozone. CA requires on OEM or an OEM replacement catalytic converter now. I used to have BBK high flows on my old car, they passed in 2008, and failed in 2010 after they changed the law.

hey thanks for the suggestions.
I wish i could stay stock, but my oem exhaust pipe got cracked in two. Im now looking for an affordable replacement. I'm not looking for anything performance, just something that works for everyday driving.
They have an oem cat converter for the corolla at autozone?? i will check it out. thanks

I bought a Magnaflow Cat for about $240 with a 5 year warranty from O'Reilly Autoparts , yeah its pricey alright , but it did pass smog.

hit up a local exhaust shop, they can either fix what you have or build you another for alot cheaper than almost any over the counter, bolt on exhaust
