remove throw out bearing

Postby Stock4AG » Sat Oct 19, 2013 7:08 pm

I want to sell my clutch but include the throw out bearing
Can you tell me how to separate the bearing from the part with the 2 ears that the clutch fork attaches? (Not sure the name, release hub?)
I remember the clutch just come with a round throw out bearing, I think.
By the way its the illegal garage clutch..
Thanks alot

it looks like this. I have a socket and a bearing separator kit.
Does anyone have pic of what the release hub body look like?

^ what he said.. only way of removing it. If you don't have access to a bench press.. you can always go look for a bearing puller tool. But good luck with the second option.. the bearing is pressed in there good.

Thanks, I got it out, I used a non-hydraulic press and it wasn't on there too tight

Ive taken these off multiple time with just a hammer, tap and a socket. For putting everything back together, put the housing in the freezer. Bearing will slide on easily with only a couple taps with a rubber mallet and a block of wood to distribute the load and seat it evenly.

I used a bench vise to support the bearing with the hub hanging down. Put a socket on the hub that would fit inside the bearing and gave it a whack. Mind your toes, but it works like a charm.

I did mine "Taka" style. Jack stand, hammer, large socket. Bam bam, done. clean the **** out of everything... Bam bam bam back on with a larger socket. Luckily, I have a bunch of monster sockets. 15/16, 1" makes it easy.
