help rev issue

Postby chopac10 » Sun Oct 20, 2013 2:52 am

The motor was running properly 8 months ago but i left the car untouched after that. when we decided to rebuild the engine and the corolla(change oil, change coolant, change belts, newly installed External fuel pumps and filters) in short the engine was reconditioned once again. After the rebuild, engine starts after several tries the idles at 1.2k Rpm due to cold start. But when we tried to rev the engine it was dying and it wont go pass 3k rpm..so we replaced all gaskets in the intake manifold and the throttle body but to my disappointment the problem is still there.. Motor specs was TVIS Head assembly+7 rib japan block and currently using a High horse ECU.. :( :( :( :(

Hope to help me with this matter.TIA!

Check connections

Almost all air has to go through the AFM if it is left disconnected the car will start and idle but won’t rev properly

there are no special wires ...you can cut a small cable by yourself....do you want help with where you should connect the wires and get in ecu diagnosis mode ?

jeez

are you sure injectors are firing?
how comes/what means "because of cold start"

is the engine running fine when its running?
if you rev the engine anywhere below 3k its reacting normally?
what happens when you say "is dying"?

post a video... if the engine hardly keeps going i think its maybe related to distributor or timing, but if problem with distributor im pretty sure ecu will say something in diagnostic mode.
confirm diagnostic mode and timing, maybe take the time to film it and post a video..

is the engine running fine when its running? NOPE. CANT OPEN THE THROTTLE QUICK ENOUGH COZ IT WILL CHOKE AND DIE. BUT IF YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR WITH A LIGHT FEET AND RPM SLOWLY GAINS GOOD

if you rev the engine anywhere below 3k its reacting normally? NOT WITH OPENING THE THROT QUICKLY

what happens when you say "is dying"? ITS LIKE THE RPM IS GOIN WAY DOWN WHEN I ACCELERATE OR OPEN THE THROTTLE

post a video... if the engine hardly keeps going i think its maybe related to distributor or timing, but if problem with distributor im pretty sure ecu will say something in diagnostic mode. OK ILL TRY TO POST IT TODAY

confirm diagnostic mode and timing, maybe take the time to film it and post a video..

What TPS are you using? Are you sure it's compatible with your ECU?
Has it been properly adjusted?
Have you tested it to make sure it's working properly?
Do you have a FSM for the ECU?
If you don't then start by getting one. If you do then go through all the diagnostic and troubleshooting sections pertaining to your issue.
