Zenki AE86 Trueno Emblem Measurements??

Postby TD86 » Sun Oct 05, 2014 5:12 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could do some measurements for me of the Zenki Front Bumper Trueno Badge? (Please don't break anything in the process LOL) The ones I'll need are the colorful lines all over the pics below:

Thanks in advance!

$2.50/line sounds about right.

Bahaha! Been flooded with schoolwork, I forgot to check back on this thread.

I guess my reason is a good thing to include; there is a robotics club that has a 3d printer at my high school and I'd like to try to make my own Trueno emblem for the JDM zenki bumper. I would just guesstimate the size, but I wouldn't want to waste resources, repeating the 3d printing process and scrapping the rejects until I get it right, so might as well get it as right as possible the first time..

Reason for not buying an OEM piece off ebay/classifieds? Because I don't want to deck out $50+ when I have the chance to make my own for almost free! Ahaha, also makes a good little mini DIY project

I'm guessing kouki would be fine, I can add some styrene or filler and cut off any excess plastic, if needed. Thanks again guys!

if you can get a real one, 3d scan it, you can sell your own for like $8 and make your money back

Would definitely consider that! But all we have is the machine that lays out the layers of plastic, getting the data from a computer with the 3d model. I may have a source for 3d scanning, but I probably won't get a chance to try it out until sometime next year...

So right now, the easier method would be to make my own 3d model through CAD or lame old Sketchup using the measurements, convert to 3d printer friendly file, print, then test-fit

Why don't you model your Trueno emblem to the dimensions of your oem Toyota emblem? maybe design 2 holes so it can easly be ziptied to the grill

How durable are 3D printed parts? I thought about modeling and printing those UV-rot prone armrest cups on zenki door panels, but a couple of people have told me that they wouldn't be as tough as fiberglass.

3D printing is as strong as the material you use to create it.... They have 3d printers that can use metal

True story. Imagine a 3D printed chassis.
