SICK OF CALIFORNIA SMOG? SIGN THIS PETITION!!!

Postby IndiaDorifto7 » Sun Sep 14, 2014 9:18 pm

Car enthusiasts everywhere in California are sick of the California smog laws, this was an old thread from the old forum by yellowsnow4free, I posted the link below. it will ask for a donation after you are done but you will already have signed the petition by then. we only need 216 more signatures, pass this on to more forums and ask others to sign, we need ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET. Even if you are not California, help a brother/sister and sign. Thanks guys!

I hope the legislature takes something titled "casmogBLOWS" seriously. :)

Honestly, environmental factors don't even apply to this situation. Sure, there may be a bit less polluted air (let's face it, most people like to drive green, economical cars like *gasp* the Prius) but the ground pollution will be off the charts. Millions of vehicles that can't pass smog will be doomed to the scrap heap, when there are more cars needed to be scraped, junk yard owners need more land, therefore destroying natural habitats and ecosystems, just look at what the Cash for Clunkers program did, so many parts and opportunities for broke people to have the freedom of people to travel, destroyed, along with detrimental environmental effects solely because of cars being shoved into scrap heaps all due to a program that would supposedly "clean our air."

That was my thought when this was initially posted in a different thread. I read it, and signed it, but thought that the title should have been thought out more to be taken serious. It could be the thorn in the side of this whole campaign.

Does anybody know of an actual organization that fights this? I wouldn't mind putting in some time to help the cause. I think that getting rid of the rolling 30 year exemption hurts not only California's car culture, but the world's. I'm on different car boards and I always see people looking for California cars. Sadly these things get crushed and destroyed so that the state can tax us on the pretext that the environment is being saved. I have always hated the idea of getting into politics, but as I get older I feel that in order to be free to enjoy my hobbies I need to dive into it.

signed.
imo the only way to get something like this passed is to make "contributions" to the state politicians.
maybe someone should come up with a kickstarter-type thing for campaign funding.

I hate politics, but for us to keep our sport going, we need to stand up. Soon, the smog regulations will be so high that our old cars can't pass, CA just wants our cars gone, I hate politicians.

A kickstarter for bribes... HAHAHAHA.... this is actually pretty genius. Who's willing to take one for the team and spend a few years in prison? 8-)

I'm a little lost... the link on the petition is not really valid (returns to their homepage) http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspxid=62246 and the only info I can find on AB 616 is a few automotive articles from 2007. Looking at the state's legislature site(http://www.legislature.ca.gov/bill_index.html), I could not find a recent AB 616 that had anything to do with cars (might have been a gut and ammend???) but I am wondering if we are just spinning our wheels signing online petitions by someone named "myself." I even went to the DMV's website and don't see anything posted other than biannual smog checks. (https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/vr/smogfaq/!ut/p/a1/lZDLasMwFES_pQsvxb1R_JCXpg126oQuCqmkjZEV23GI5UeFKP36yoUuQ-jsBoYZzoAEDtIo13fK9qNRt9XLuCr3L7tNkWOZR4cMs7Io3k67E83TLXyABKmNnewFxHlwlR6NbYytGhOg9wG6JcDPYexaNa_ZSfdnECqOWsZoTaJaJySkFEmNm5C0LEVkYdMkOgUBQiZ3x6MY3v9Z-PqIhoOgy_H52PlaZS-kN-0I3C3A_wh8or_Os8w89Ur6ZYE_xP49yS_jHWUI0zCwbTS570Nxc1P29ANz5gai/dl5/d5/L2dBISEvZ0FBIS9nQSEh/?urile=wcm%3Apath%3A%2Fdmv_content_en%2Fdmv%2Fvr%2Fsmogfaq#BM2535)

I did sign it just in case, but in the end we all need to contact our congressman and senators (https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/CA) to hopefully make a change (but it's California... and they know what's best for us  ). We all want things to be as easy as clicking on a survey, but reality is that the only way to change the law is to bribe.... err ummm I mean remind politicians that they are supposed to be representing the people.
