Looking for a Good Shop In Socal.....

Postby redzfit » Sun Oct 12, 2014 7:55 pm

I am looking to buy my first AE86 GTS, I have had previous cars in the past but completely new to these cars. I am looking for a shop that specialize's in these cars. They are 20+ years old and I would want a shop to go through the car for maintenance items right away. Then maybe eventually getting into rebuilding the stock engine items like that. I also like the looks of some aftermarket front bumpers. I do not know if there is a 1 stop shop or if there will need to be multiple shops. I am somewhat near OC/LA/SD/IE areas....

I tried searching online but did not have much luck, sorry if this is the wrong section to post....

Where are you located?

I am most likely picking a car up this weekend and will want to order new pads and rotors....

I would suggest Mitsu's garage in San Gabriel. He has been working on 86's forever as far as I know, he knows his stuff, and he's a really cool guy.

Mitsu's garage info:
820 Commercial Ave, San Gabriel, CA 91776
(626) 614-9577

If you're closer to the inland empire I work at a shop and would be happy to help. The shops number is (909) 433-9666. My name is Joe. If you're in need of maintenance/ repair, or just have questions about your new car please feel free to call.

I emailed Mitsu and he is booked until next year and sounds like he is selling his shop. So that doesn't seem like an option for me. I ended up buying a car this weekend so now I would like to find a good shop who knows these cars well.

Bought off a member here. 1985 Corolla GTS coupe 153k miles needs a little love but for the most part super nice, full interior and engine seems strong so far. I'm getting fluids done tomorrow and some other minor stuff.

After I bought my car I took it to Tashmo off of Tustin Ave. in Santa Ana. Daniel there is very chill. If you go onto their website or Facebook page (I forget which) you can see photos of all their work they've done for customers. You might be able to find my 85 GTS hatch on there. It had some problems but the biggest one they fixed was shredded wiring in the driver's side wheel well. They went in and soldering extensions in and heat wrapped them all. Fixed so many issues.

Anyways, they do great work and have great ratings. I believe one of the people there owns a 70s Celica and they've had some Supra projects as well. Definitely worth taking a look.

I just sent you guys an email. I would like to get my dash redone and at least new carpet for my interior. I could also do some other small things right now. I am not that far from you guys so this would be great. I just contacted "just dashes" to see if they could do my dash because it is needs a new one. It would be ideal for me to have 1 shop work on my car who is familiar with it. I used HB Speed (which is now Cobb Tuning Socal) for my WRX and Evo X....
