Having lighting issues and I'm stuck

Postby TJWH » Fri Jul 19, 2024 4:00 pm

My lights used to work just fine, but as of recently, my dash lights no longer work, but when I hit the brakes they come on and so do all my amber parking lights around the vehicle come on. I also don't have any breaklights. But when I hit the brake pedal, they went on like normal. I've checked all my fuses and I've checked the main relay. It seems to be functioning just fine, so my best idea is something is crossed somewhere. I'm wondering if somebody's run into this issue before and can point me in the right direction.

Thank you

Assuming your issue is on AE86, my next step at this point will be trying another headlight switch.

I just read Japanese article that similar symptoms were resolved by disassemble the switch and re-solder the wires inside the switch.
According to the article they found a small crack on soldering point, causing bad connection.
It is in Japanese but, there are pictures that you should understand.

Also, even your fuse looks fine, I would replace it with a NEW one that may not able to tell by just a look.
Good luck. ;)

Thanks a lot for the reply! I'll definitely try that.
