ae86 issues...
ok guys i am having issues with my 4age... when i start the car it idles kinda wierd, it sounds like a subaru lol. well anyways when i drive it it bogs really nasty and it still sounds like a wrx when i give it a little gas, it struggles to even move at all. when i drove it today maybe a couple of times it actually ran right... but it went back to being a subaru. i was thinking it might be the AFM... any feedback will be greatly appreciate it. and if it was the AFM is there one out there that will fit my ae86? my AFM looks bigger than others, looks like its from a newer ae86.

Re: ae86 issues...
running like a subi means mis fire -
could be a few things:
1. check to see if all cylinders are firing - pull out each plug and see if you can hear a difference in how it sounds while revving.. if there is no change in sound that is the cylinder that has the issue.
2. check your plugs
3. check your cap n rotor
4. check your distributor - is there oil inside? if so, overhaul the dizzy.
5. check your ignitor -
6. check your grounds - its best to add more grounds
7. check your injector plugs - if injector plugs are not tight and clip - it will not fire and will cause the motor to sound like a subi.
8. check ur injectors - are they leaky or drippy? - mite as well get them rebuilt at RC anyway..
ae86 is such a pile of ****, you really have to rebuild EVERYTHING!..

My ae86 does the same, I don't know about the subi part, but I bogs nasty and struggles to raise rpms, but this is when its cold tho, once I give it a good warm up, it goes back to normal. I actually also pumped 91, I don't know if that would make a difference, since I heard that 91 octane cleans your injectors(stock engines)....

WHAA? 91 cleans injectors? LOL
if you are running all stock motor, 91 is a waste of money.
Higher octane will make it hard to start when its cold, will not burn completely, etc. ECU is not setup for 91 octane.
sounds like a cylinder is missing, once again as someone already said:
to figure out which cylinder is missing, while engine is running, remove a spark pulg lead from each cylinder, one at a time. when there is no change, theres the cylinder.
Check your plug wires, spark plugs, and dizzy(take the cap off and look inside) check your injector plugs, if you are missing the wire locks on them, or they are broken its time to replace them.
RTFM!!!!!!!!!!! --> http://www.aeu86.org/technical/
