Speedometer gear part numbers?

Postby senhvv » Thu Sep 05, 2013 3:40 am

Trying to get my speedometer to read correctly by swapping the speedometer drive gear because its reading about 20 clicks to quick. I picked up one from the local parts dealer here (p/n 33403-19175) which is a 22/6 tooth hoping it was the correct one I needed. When I took the one that is currently in the tranny, it turned out to be a 19/5. Anyone got a part number for the 20/5, 21/5 and the 22/5 speedometer drive gears, or will my new 22/6 gear work with a 5 tooth metal gear inside the tranny housing? I'm still trying to gather whatever history I have about this car by running into issues like this. Seems like the previous owners swapped the tranny or changed the speedo gear. Hopefully I get this fixed before I have to get the Shaken done on it here in Japan.

bit tough to see the numbers on the right gear, but its 22/6

I'm curious which part you use to solve this issue because my speedometer is also reading around 15mph fast. I'm assuming it has the SR5 gear when it should be using the GT-S.

Anyway, did you try looking the parts up here? http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q.html

All the part diagrams and Toyodiy list it as 33403, the speedometer drive gear, but since Toyota part numbers are 10 digits long, the speedometer drive gear is broken into more specific sizes with the last 5 digits (i.e. 33403-19175 for a 22/6 gear). I'm not familiar as to how the jdm GTV/apex compares to the usdm sr5/gts but it does appear the tyranny was changed on this car

Well, I went ahead and installed the 22/6 gear in place of the 19/5 and it's working jurist right. No issues at the moment ;) :D
