Noob question on fuel delivery for a carb'd 4age

Postby nolanator » Thu Oct 17, 2013 10:55 am

Hey guys, I'll start off by saying I'm new here and am preparing to run a Yamaha r1 carb setup on my bluetop which is going into my currently 4ac powered ae71. YES I have researched and have a pretty solid idea of what I'm going to be doing. I've Already accumulated most of the parts I need except for what I'm about to ask about. Of the numerous articles I've read there not completely clear on what the deal is for the fuel pump. Everyone says to get an electric fuel pump of your choice or an r1 pump... But I'm pretty sure they're doing the swaps into there gts'. My question is, since my car is already carb'd from the factory, could I leave the pump alone and use my Holley FPR to lower down the fuel pressure? Thanks in advance for any help and pointers...

No. Your 4AC has a mechanical fuel pump in the head. Swapping in a blue top head eliminates this pump, which means you must run an electric pump.
