cold start injector problem. help!!!

Postby i13ethat » Sun Oct 18, 2015 8:31 pm

I have a 85 corolla gts.The engine is basically stock. I start my engine and it idles fine. But when I step on the gas the engine starts to hesitate and stumble. I wiggle the wires to the cold start injector and the car then engine then just cuts off. Can I assume that the cold start injector wire was what caused the engine to stumble when stepping on the gas? I'm really trying to get my corolla back on the road. Thanks for any help.

The wires to the cold start injector only have power on them while the
'engine is cranking. At all other times the wires are "dead". So if wiggling
the wires causes the engine to stop, chances are that your wiggling is
disturbing some other wire that runs close by. Try holding the injector
wire steady with one hand while you move any other wires that might be
touching the injector wire.

Look for loose or frayed wires, loose plugs, loose bolt on the top of the
intake manifold that holds the ring connector on the end of the three
brown ground wires.

thanks. checked and I think some of the wires in the harness is bad. the injector and cold start connectors and wire seems fine.i'll check to find the exact problem wire when I have more time.

Thanks again. Turned out to be a loose ground on the manifold.
