4ac Electric Fuel Pump Input/Install

After some mechanical/electric fuel pump debate I picked up a Napa EFP for my sr5/4ac I will be installing this weekend.
Reasoning: mfp's busted diaphram has allowed gas into the crankcase. I'd like to eliminate this potential.
I plan to cap off and bypass the mechanical fuel pump untiill I make a blocking plate and remove the pump.

I have a few questions regarding mounting location and a toggle switch.
If anyone has some experience with a efp on a 4ac some input would be appreciated.

Q1: Recomendation for efp install is 1-3 ft from gas tank. I would preffer to install the efp in the engine bay.
I'm told this is fine but would like to hear if anyone has done so and any issues/fixes along with it.

Q:2 Plan for wiring is to run +wire to fusebox and install a relay. Run -wire to a toggle switch on console.
Any recomendations for a wiring setup? Thanks.

I installed a Mr Gasket 12S in my SR5 for a short while. I had it ziptied to something in the engine bay lol. Worked great, no problems. I had a toggle switch for it.

I had a Mr Gasket pump (rated 2.5-4psi) on my 4AC with a Weber 32/36 carb. 2 things: 1) if the instructions say mount it that close, then mount it that close lol. I bolted it to the underside of the floor in front of the tank, and i'll eventually move my Holley down there. 2) USE A REGULATOR. My Mr Gasket pump kept flooding my carb like crazy, so when I put on a regulator and gauge it was reading around 9psi, so no wonder.

For wiring, I stole the ACC lead from the radio and put a switch in one of the dummy panels in the dash to kill the pump, then ran wire to the pump through an open bolt hole.

That's weird. I never used a regulator on my 12S, and it never flooded it. I put an inline fuel pressure gauge and it stayed at 7psi, and flowed the perfect amount for teh stock carb.

That's way too much pressure for a Weber carb. They like 3.5psi, my pump put out 8.5-9 all day.

Ah, I never had a Weber carb, just the stock one.

run red wire to inline fuse then into the dash panel to a toggle switch then ground black wire to negative terminal on the battery and have it spliced with another one leading to the toggle switch as well thats what i did for my electric fans
