AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
Which steering wheel quick release setup do you prefer ? 1st gen 2 gen?
Re: AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
I have a works bell quick release the quality is second to none, but the price is steep!

Agreed i have a works bell also which is great quality. I have used the NRG style on our 25 hour enduro cars and they work but i can see where the ball locks to the shaft beginning to wear just like in the post by works about fake quick releases. So i would have to say NRG isn't bad either but would recommend watching for wear and replacing when signs of wear begin. Nothing worse than driving down the road with your steering wheel not attached to the column.
Re: AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
I've got a rapfix II and it is wonderful. The price is higher than most, but I think it was worth it. It holds securely and clicks in positively.

I got a Nardi Classic w/ a personal hub and a slim NRG QR:

(Whatever you do don't get the ebay stuff, I had a faulty hub and 2 crappy slim QR's)

Thumbs up to those autographs

Are there any prior modifications needed to fit slim NRG?

SAFETY FIRST!
Re: AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
i dont use a quick release, but nardi 350 deep corn wheel and HKB sports JP hub.
I bought a cheap hub adapter first and the thing had like half an inch of play. Dont cheap out on steering stuff.

Re: AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
i say WB Rapfix 2 or nothing. like the other above stated posts, it feels way more reliable then the other brands that copy the design. safety is a must.

Works bell also makes a very nice short and long hub adapter for ae86/ae92 but they're little pricey. After my first 86 was totaled I threw my wb hub adapter and quick release on my '91 corolla sedan for a minute. **** was tight

Re: AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
Should i stick with the 2nd gen quick release or get the thin version nrg quick release? anyone ? any thoughts?
Re: AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
I wouldn't mess with the NRG knockoffs. Stick with the works bell.

Yeah, ama sell some items then, to get then works bell lol
Re: AE86 Quick Release Steering wheel
If there's nothing wrong with your current quick release (good length and no play) then why mess with it? I'm using a T3 solid extension instead of a quick release because my car stays locked up in a garage on the other side of the country from you guys in California lol.

Had one of these knock offs. Didn't like them at all! & I agree about safety. Not taking that chance, i just went ahead & bought the works bell
