Tire size for a 14x7?

Postby SlideSexy » Mon Sep 16, 2013 11:07 pm

I have a set of 14x7+15 Enkei 92s, with some beefy 195/65 tires and they rub on the body at near full lock..

I have +25 mm spacers which doesnt make it rub on the inside... but it'll destroy my fenders LOL

So im just looking for a decent size (doesnt have to be SUPER MEGA STRETCH) tire for them.

If the tires happen to cost like $65+ I'll just get 15s and throw on my 205/50s that i have laying around..

185/55/14 or 185/60/14 are good sizes for 14's, 205/50/15 you will probably have just as much of an issue with rubbing as you do now. How low is the car?

Not even that low, I'm not worried too too much about rubbing on the fender, but with those beefy 14" tires its hell. and its bad for the inside. the back is ok im not worried about it, just the front.

Do you have a completely stock steering setup, or are you using power knuckles on a manual rack and/or rack spacers? I ask because even 185/55 tires won't stop the rubbing If you have increased steering angle.

Im running 195/60/14 on my 14x7 +0 wheel, coilover+NRCA on front, it does hit the inside when full turn, it can be adjust to clear it tho.

Stock steering setup at the moment.

Ok should be an easy fix then. A 195/65 tire is too tall; it's almost 1" taller than the oem '86-87 gts tire size which is 195/60. A 195/60 tire will probably solve your problem. I say this because your current wheel size and offset actually leaves more room on the suspension/body side than stock.

You should be able to find tires in both sizes starting around $50-55/each new. That's the bottom of the barrel though.
