HELP with Engine problem. Possibly the igniter

Postby i13ethat » Fri Mar 14, 2014 7:43 pm

I need help with 85 corolla gts. The engine runs rough when accelerating. It basically kind of stutters when I step on the gas. Seems to be an electrical problem. I check the codes and it did not have any code come up. I have tried swapping a spare distributor but it still ran the same. Spark plugs are and wires are good. I've also tried swapping in another ecu but it still runs the same. I tested the TPS and tried swapping in another one and no difference. The ignition coil is new. The only thing that I can think of is that the coil igniter is bad. Anyone with any ideas of what the problem might be let me know. Thanks.

Make sure the igniter is securely bolted down with a good ground
contact on the chassis. If that's good, check your ignition timing.

Thanks. Timing is good. I'll check the ground contact on the chassis.
