Trunk latchess interchangable?

Hey guys,

The tribute build I'm working on has hit a snag, we can't find a trunk latch for our '84 hatchback. Is there another model year that fits or swap from another car that would work? All other options, google, craigslist, and forums haven't yielded any results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

honestly i think that the 2014 corollas may fit... it is just a theory but when i looked in my wifes interior it looks exactly like ours... ill post some pics and may order one as a guinea pig since my trunk latch is screwed

Also my 81 celica has the same trunk/gas release. The latch it's self (on the trunk/hatch) will most likely NOT fit

I checked the part number and it doesn't cross referenced the numbers, and nothing im afraid
