Toyota will be bringing back the Landcruiser 70 for a year. It will have updated electronics but that is about it. I think its pretty legit that they're doing that. Gives some kind of hope that mabe they would do that for the AE86...... *prays* What do you guys think?
Toyota bringing back Landcruiser for a year
Re: Toyota bringing back Landcruiser for a year
Nice, I love the old land cruisers. That price isn't bad either. Great vehicle for going on off-road adventures.
They already did that for the AE86. That's basically what the GT86 is. Unfortunately 80s styling will never comeback due to aerodynamics, MPGs, and pedestrian safety nonsense (popup headlights are deadly apparently).
I too wish older styling would make a come back, but so far cars just keep getting uglier in my opinion.
I'll stay hopeful anyway.

even if the 80's styling doesn't come back, it would be nice if they would release some "simpler" sport models without 8 miles of wiring and computers

I would believe the gt86/frs/brz was more ae86 if it was styled more like a 2door corolla, instead of a bigger celica.
A simple 2 door rwd corolla, competitively priced(less than $20k) with an inline 4(2zzge or better)
Toyota: please bring back the sr5 and gts rwd models back to the corolla line.
In answer to OP:
I like that they are re-releasing the old school LC, but updated. I don't think it will ever happen to the corolla ae86. the following for LC is much larger than ours.
RTFM!!!!!!!!!!! --> http://www.aeu86.org/technical/

They're bringing it back to the Japanese market, it's been sold continuously in other markets (Australia, Europe, Middle East, etc.) since 1984 and has been manufactured in Japan that entire time.
It's really non-news, unless you live in Japan I guess.

Yup. The difference in regulations here in the US really limits our choice of vehicles...

That's great though. 80's SUVs have that timeless styling. I can see this as Toyota's take on the Mercedes G class.

Yea, also the Land Rover Defender still has that classic look.

I wish they would bring it here You can buy two 70 series for the price of one 200 series and have some change left lol
Re: Toyota bringing back Landcruiser for a year
Ugh, 4l V6.
That's not a LandCruiser.
It really should be an inline diesel to be truly harcore durable LandCruiserness.
