Heater core solutions?
Heater core solutions?
The heater core I bought from autozone doesn't fit, what does everyone do for a heater core? One from a different car? I posted a WTB add, yet haven't gotten any leads. I would like to put my car's interior back together.

problem I have is that on mine, one of the 90 bends where you attach those hose is....broken completely off. I also don't have it.
Re: Heater core solutions?
I work at O'Reilly auto parts. I've been working with Murray on finding the appropriate part. So far no luck.
Re: Heater core solutions?
the autozone one was so close, its just that the flaps in the air router box don't completely close. the hose hook ups were in the right spot and it fit in the air router. so close!
Re: Heater core solutions?
Not bad. The O'Reilly one had one of the hose hook ups, pointing the wrong direction/upside down.
Re: Heater core solutions?
as long as the hook up clears the engine, and fits through the show in the firewall, Whats the beef? Just running more heater hose?
Re: Heater core solutions?
It could be my 4AC has more clearance in that area then the 4AG

Re: Heater core solutions?
hit up yellow pages for a local plumber that can braze the pipe back to the heater core.
or find some machine shop that can take care of it for you.

Re: Heater core solutions?
If yours is just clogged and old soak it in CLR and let it sit for about 2hrs. If the pipe ends came off then you will have to take it to a plumber or rad shop to have it brazed back into place. Those Advanced and other cores fit like crap and dont work. You can also take it to a local rad shop and they will replicate it for you if you like.
Re: Heater core solutions?
good suggeestion , i may have to do that. mine flows fine, its just one of the hookups is broken clean off
Re: Heater core solutions?
I want an OEM fit heater core, something I won't have to modify.
Re: Heater core solutions?
And you know for a fact it works? Cause I'm not sure if you have been reading but none of the "replacement" cores have fit properly.
Re: Heater core solutions?
The one from parts geek doesn't look to bad, the pictures looks right. The picture does. I'm not sure If I would part with 100+ to find out.
Re: Heater core solutions?
It's not going to fit perfect, but it'll be better than nothing. The 86 FX heater core fits in the slot (you have to fight it a little bit to get it in), the blendoors will open all the way, but one of the heater lines faces the wrong way.

I bought one through kragen/orielley if you want the part number I can email it to you, I went through trying to find the correct one for days, my car sat over a month waiting for them to send me the right one. You can email me.

Re: Heater core solutions?
I can repair cores if someone can't find someone local they trust.
I could look into making replacements if there was the demand. It sounds like yogi found a solution but I thought I'd put it out there in case.
