Toyota engine code

Postby phanist » Fri Mar 29, 2013 2:14 pm

Hi guy
I bought an blacktop... That is not really a blacktop..
Engine code is 4A 082248 that was on the block... But the head look a 20v blacktop but bottom end only have 3rib... And crank only have 6bolt not 8...
Is this possible for a blacktop to look like...
I also check the front cover... Is doesnt really fit ... Look like it too tall...
I really dont believe this is a 20v bottom...
Can any one help
Identify this block as the guy that sale me this engine say he sold me a earlier rare model blacktop...
Thank

All blacktop engines had 7-rib blocks and 42mm cranks with 8 bolts. Sorry :(

OK guy please help me solve this weird engine problem.. which the seller JDM engine imports and ALN JDM motors claim is a legit 20v blacktop...
it doesn't look like a 20v block to me at all ImageImageImage

i work on my swap usually at night when i get home from work.. so a little a night.. and come swapping the flywheel and clutch assy over from my 16v... i finally realize that the block and crank that cam with the 20v blacktop that i paid a total of 1750$ shipped. is looking pretty weird.. it only have 6bolt at the crank for flywheel and 3rib block... and i was wondering why the front cam cover top to bottom is far off alignment .. the cover doesnt fit right.. and far off...
and those are fresh T3 pulley and of course the need part for the conversion... i of course remove the un needed part of the 20v and replace them..RWD part. never remove the head and block......
the seller is now blaming that i change it out... and trying to cheat them... very LAME.......
all i wanted was a correct 20v 4age blacktop stock... not a pre mod engine.... that is not what i paid for or ask for...

Easiest is to pull the pan, check rod journals, oil squirters ect..could well be a 4ac block for all we know. From our veiw, looks to be 1/2 a BT.. "top half"

Yah but im not pulling anything else off... I already put everythîng back on..
Is doesnt look like a 4age 20v block at all ...
The seller is accusing me of changing the block and trying cheat them... So lame...
I have two 4age blacktop before and both look the same... As i complete the 20v blacktop to ae86 before... But this time i ordered from the same guy... He or his people decided to fu..ked me up this time with this BS half ass engine... Top half as 20v and bottom end is lame 4ac or 4afe.....
He is now telling me it too late he wont refund because 14day return period is over...
It take 4 week or so to even ship it back...
here is some other weird issue i found as i was checking the engine out again carefullyImageImage
from memory.. i do think not think the 4age 20v black originally have an oil cooler system.. this engine have one.. and the alt bracket is'nt even a correct bracket.. it doesnt even bolt on right. as cam cover it not cover correctly neither. a half inch gap...

feel sorry for you man.....that same thing happen to me.... :( :( :(

I even installed the engine and ran it, when I decided to rebuild found out it was running 16v pistons....... yeah 16VALVE bluetop pistons  ..... I didn't believe it was even possible but those guys pull off all kinds of crap. Just report the guy and buy parts from legit people that way your sure $$$$ gets invested properly......

I rather pay $500 bucks for a part from a trusted vendor :ugeek: and not $100 from someone just trying to sell 8-) .

Who did you buy that engine from?

phanist=just saw the $1750 disregard...sorry,,,man that is alot of your hard earned money..time to take action bro

And yup, put everything back as you received it on the pallet...You already got our honest opinion about the motor, i would strongly suggest gettin' all documentation,,payment receipt, emails, pictures, phone calls made to resolve the issue...all of it together & call your CC company put in a claim..flipping it around with false accusations on their part, it's down right fraud! It has to stop.

im current waiting for my CC bank to send to me a dispute form to fill out ... yah this have to stop... i just cant' believe they would do this kind of scam..
at first he actually tell me he pull off the tranny that came with the engine he sent to me and it have 8 bolt tanny flywheel on them... how is that possible that i end up receiving a 6 bolt crank with unknown block...
then he say why if u have a very rare model of the 20v?... i was think yah a very fu..ked modify 20v.. ..
and yes i already put all the crap back together the way it came and waiting for shipping company to come get it... i will contact the BBB and file a complain against them too.

That's a whole pile of Frankenyota stuff right there. I'm curious what bottom end that is, too. Get it settled, then pull the head off and see what pistons you've got.
